The typical couple in New Jersey may not appear to have a lot in common with Heidi Klum and Seal, but when spouses are working hard to build their careers while also raising children, it is not uncommon for couples to grow apart.

After almost seven years of marriage, former Victoria's Secret angel Klum and singer Seal announced this week that they plan to divorce. USA Today speculates that the couple's marriage has been in trouble for awhile based on their overly affectionate kisses in public, which could have indicated that the celebrity couple was overcompensating for their unhappiness. The Huffington Post suggests that the couple reached the "breaking point" in their relationship which left them with two choices, either attempting to fix their problems to save the marriage or to walk away.

Certainly many might have expected that infidelity was the cause for the celebrity couple's divorce, but Klum and Seal reported this week that they have simply "grown apart." According to sources, Klum has been unhappy for some time with Seal's temper. The couple was married in May 2005 and the two have renewed their wedding vows every year since on their anniversary.

Klum, 38, is a successful model and host of the popular reality TV show "Project Runway." Seal, 48, is notably known for his Billboard hit "Kiss From a Rose," and he has been working on a new album that was recently released. In addition to their busy careers, the couple has also been raising three of their own children together who are now 6, 5 and 2. The couple has also been raising Klum's 7-year-old daughter together from a previous relationship.

In some marriages, spouses may be so focused on everything else that is going on in their lives that they forget to take time to focus on keeping their relationships healthy and strong. After several years of growing apart, some New Jersey couples may decide - like Klum and Seal - that their broken marriage cannot be fixed and it may be time to discuss a divorce.
